Thank you to everyone who made this year’s National Robotics Week a success!
At our lab open house on Friday, April 14th, we welcomed visitors ranging from families to undergraduate and graduate students.
The event had four demos: an introduction sequence with Minnie, a reading robot for children; Nao, a robot used in research that has a GUI interface allowing for easily understood programming; Oculus Rift, a virtual reality system; and the Tobii Eyex, an eye tracker that detects eye movement with infrared lights.
We noticed that the Minnie was particularly popular with parents, and the VR demonstration was favored by undergraduate and graduate students.
The open house was held from 1-5 pm and was run primarily by the undergraduate researchers in the HCI research lab. We look forward to similar events in the future!
